SOCIETY FOR PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATION

SOPHE, the Society for Pubic Health Education, Inc. is an independent international professional organization founded in 1950 to provide leadership to the profession of health education and to contribute to the health of all people through:

• Advances in health education theory and research

• Excellence in health education practice

• Promotion of public policies conducive to health The Greater New York Chapter of SOPHE is SOPHE’s regional affiliate, serving New York City
and adjacent counties since 1966. We have been incorporated since 1998 as a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation, governed by an elected board , together with appointed committee chairs, made up of volunteer members.
Who We Are GNY-SOPHE derives its strength from the united efforts of its members, who represent:

• Community organizations
• Colleges and universities
• Government
• Health care facilities
• Labor
• School health
